Family in Recovery

The Family in Recovery (FIR) series is a unique hybrid of education and therapy that is customized and based on each family’s needs. LWPG assesses how much education, support groups and/or workshops families may have attended in the past, which areas they have been able to apply, and the areas that continue to be a challenge. Some of the topics include: learning about the addictive illness, including the inherited features and intergenerational patterns among families; understanding how the addictive illness effects all members of a family; boundaries within a family system; and family roles. These sessions are also dedicated to engaging families in the parallel recovery process that can prepare them to better cope with their loved one’s addictive and mental health issues.
